Your daily responsibilities include
The Director of Project Accounting is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and construction accounting. In this role, the person will be responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, financial audits, and internal controls.
The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary for the entire enterprise:
Responsible for directing the overall operations and staff of the Project Accounting department. Develops, implements, and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives.
Responsible for the development and completeness of month and year end construction accounting closing process.
Reviews and approves all pay apps, invoices, purchase orders, etc.
Performs budget projections and analysis on construction projects. Makes recommendations for improvement as needed.
Responsible for assigning and overall accuracy of reports which summarizes and forecasts all construction activity and financial position in areas of unbudgeted expenses and changes in the original construction plan.
Provides leadership with timely reviews of all construction and its status and progress in its various activities.
Responsible for assigning and overall accuracy of budget preparation, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
Partners with Risk Management on insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities during construction.
Reviews all Design & Construction related contracts to ensure compliance with best practices. Requests and makes improvements as needed.
Ensures property has the necessary permits in place for all construction projects, as well as providing proper landlord notice as applicable.
Establishes, or recommend, to management construction strategies and objectives.
Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets and ensures proper GAAP accounting for all capital assets.
Partners with Corporate Director of Tax to determine any and all operational adjustments due to tax code requirements, included but not limited to sales & use taxes.
Responsible for scheduling and coordinating all audits of construction expenses as needed.
Responsible for preparation required by regulatory agencies for diversity reporting.
Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to VP Talent Management.
Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set
Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in Accounting or related field from four-year college or university; or ten years’ progressive experience in Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Leadership experience in large, multi-unit company required. Must have construction accounting required. Gaming experience highly preferred.
Must have strong problem solving, organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Strong client interface and presentation skills preferred.
Must have excellent project and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Must have technical proficiency and knowledge in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Must have technical knowledge in building sourcing strategies using a variety of means including cold calling, leveraging competitive resources, networking, and data mining Internet tools, web sites and social networking.
Must have current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws regarding financial reporting and construction accounting.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Must have the ability to drive results and be proactive when working on tasks.
