Your daily responsibilities include
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:
Ensures the timely completion of the monthly close, including addressing any issues that may arise.
Maintains the books and records of the parent company and a number of small subsidiary companies.
Reviews and approves General Ledger journal entries prepared by the accounting staff.
Reviews high-risk account reconciliations.
Performs a final review of each Corporate entity’s trial balance for accuracy and completeness before each Corporate entity is finalized.
Works with VP of Technical Accounting and/or VP of Corporate Accounting on any unusual transactions and prepares necessary journal entries.
Manages the intercompany process between Corporate and properties.
Supervises direct reports and manages the accounting team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Provides training to new and existing staff.
Prepares analytical reviews of actual to budget and year-over-year trends.
Ensures documentation, including appropriate sign-offs, is completed for all key controls, and coordinates all requests with internal and external auditors. Reviews annual update of SOX narratives for assigned cycles.
Assists with special projects and helps properties with any questions and/or issues
Evaluates processes for improvement and efficiency.

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance or Economics from a four-year college or university; and six to eight years related experience and/or training.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and instructions.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to analyze business performance reports.
Must be proficient with Excel, Microsoft Access and Word.
This position will have supervisory responsibilities.
Responsible for staff development and training programs.
Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regards to performance.
Determines recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs
Determines work procedures and expedites workflow.
Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).
