Penn National Gaming Accounting Clerk - 1st Shift FT in Hobbs, New Mexico

Your daily responsibilities include


The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

Primarily Revenue Audit tasks.

  • Prepares month-end bank reconciliations.

  • Prepares month-end account reconciliations.

  • Completes monthly journal entries and accruals.

  • Records cash transfer/wire journal entries.

  • Balances the accounts payable trial balance.

  • Verify mathematical accuracy of invoices (to include sales tax accrual when appropriate), code, and process invoices

  • Reconcile monthly vendor statements and address any issues

  • Process tax payments accurately and timely

  • Generates check runs and reports as requested

  • Prints checks in absence of Horsemen Bookkeeper

  • Assist with research and impromptu projects

  • Assist in Direct Bill

  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.

  • Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to management.

  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Accounting from accredited four-year college or university preferred.

  • 0-2 years of related experience.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) required.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.

  • Ability to read, to write, to comprehend and speak English.


This job will have no supervisory responsibilities.


Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.


Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

Employee could be exposed to an environment containing unrestricted second hand tobacco smoke.

This position requires attendance during the first 5 business days of the month, may require weekends, and extended work hours. No PTO may be taken during the end of month process (first 5 business days of the month). This position may also require holidays to be worked if they fall within the first 5 business days of the month.
