An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

Your daily responsibilities include

  • Responding, recording, checking and updating reservations.

  • Assign guests to tables and section by completing the seating chart.

  • Assisting in scheduling Servers, Bus persons and Host/ess to ensure adequate staffing.

  • Assigning stations to all Servers and Bus persons.

  • Knowledge of the menu and its items including daily or weekly specials.

  • Knowledge of and the ability to be advisable on the current wine list.

  • Ensure the Dining Room is clean and in excellent condition for that evening’s business.

  • Inform Servers of any information pertaining to that evening’s activity.

  • Inform the kitchen staff of the number of reservations and any details for that evening (birthday cakes, dietary requests, special parties booked, trophy races…etc.).

  • Greeting and seating guests in accordance with proper server rotation. Thanking and well wishing to all guests as they depart.

  • Supervise the overall service and activities in the Dining Room and assisting when necessary in such areas as; clearing tables, cleaning ashtrays, pouring wine and checking in with the guests that they are completely satisfied with their service and meals.

  • Responding to and assisting in resolving all guest complaints or problems.

  • Reporting any issues, complaints or problems to the Dining Room Manager.

  • Closing Servers and ensuring all side duties are performed and dining room is clean and orderly.

  • Maintaining a high level of knowledge of the Micros POS system, opening and closing procedures and principles of service.

  • Complete any task assigned by room manager, supervisor, or room chef.

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

  • Directly supervises all employees in the Dining Room. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High School diploma; three years related experience and/or training.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Must qualify for the West Virginia State Racing Commission license. Must be able to obtain proper Food Handler Certification. Must be TIPS certified upon hiring.
