An individual could be successful if they possess the following.
Your daily responsibilities include
Fastens attachments, such as grader, plows, and rollers, to tractors with hitch pins.
Releases brakes, shifts gears, and depresses accelerator or move throttle to control forward and backward movement of tractor.
Steers tractor by turning steering wheel and depressing brake pedals.
Assists in maintaining the integrity of the race surface.
Delivers clay and sand to racetrack and barn areas.
Assists in over all maintenance of grounds.
Brush hogs and mows fields.
Drives water truck, to moisten the race surface.
Must clean all equipment being used.
Must report problems with machine to the motor pool.
Assists laborers when needed.
Assists with transportation of disabled horses.
Raking material around the race surface.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have1 year maintenance experience in racing surfaces or equivalent experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must qualify for licensing by the West Virginia Racing Commission. Must possess a valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside. In addition to the pre-employment background check, this position will be subject to periodic checks of your driving record in order to determine your continued suitability to drive company and/or patron vehicles. Must have OSHA certification on machinery used by Track Maintenance.
