An individual could be successful if they possess the following.
Your daily responsibilities include
comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the West Virginia Racing Commission
comply with all rules and regulations of the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources, Office of EMS
comply with the Sop’s of the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races EMS Department
comply with the Exposure Control Policies for Blood-borne and Air-borne Pathogens
attend all mandatory EMS Department meetings and training classes
conduct patient care equipment inspections and ensure proper stocking at the beginning of each shift
clean and/or decontaminate durable patient care equipment
clean and or decontaminate the ambulances as needed
restock expendable supplies and disposable equipment utilized for patient care immediately after the incident
perform assessments and treatment of trauma and medical patients in accordance with the current West Virginia BLS Protocols
perform appropriate basic interventions for trauma and medical patients in accordance with current West Virginia BLS Protocols
operate telephone and radio communications equipment effectively to transmit patient information to the appropriate care facility
operate radio equipment to maintain contact with Security Control
provide verbal reports of patient interactions and conditions to incoming EMS units, receiving facilities, doctors and nurses involved in the patients care
maintain patient confidentiality
provide written documentation of patient care assessments, conditions, interventions and outcome on West Virginia run report prior to leaving the hospital.
provide written documentation of exposures to blood or body fluids immediately as per Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races Exposure Control Policy
assist EMS Department Staff when requested within the EMT-B scope of practice
work with other licensed EMS agencies as needed for our operation or in an MCI situation
work longer than scheduled shifts as situations may dictate
all other duties as assigned
To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set
be at least 21 years of age and 1 year released independent practice on your own
possess and maintain current certification by the West Virginia Department of Health, Office of EMS as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B)
possess and maintain current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at the Healthcare Provider level
possess and maintain current certification in Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) at the basic provider level
possess and maintain current certification in Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) at the basic provider level.
possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
possess and maintain West Virginia certification in Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC)
possess and maintain WV MCI I & II
have good working knowledge of the Incident Command System
possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
be eligible for licensing by the West Virginia Racing Commission
On a regular basis be able to: has vision of 20/20 or correctable to20/20
see standard visual warning signals, be able to distinguish fine print such as labels and observe the signs of closed or open wounds, and see EKG tracings on heart monitor and paper strip recording
distinguish between colors including shades of blue, red, yellow and green
hear, including vocalized medical history by patients, standard audible warning signals, radio and telephone communications, stethoscope auscultation of blood pressures and breath sounds
speaks, reads and writes the English language to communicate with patients,fellow EMT’s and medical staff
reaches across an ambulance gurney or above their head, stretch and grasps objects with hands
stand, sit or kneel for periods of 10 minutes or longer
lifts objects weighing up to 50 lbs alone
lifts objects weighing up to 150 lbs. or heavier with one partner of equal size and strength
lifts objects weighing in excess of 150 lbs. or heavier working with 3-4 partners of equal size and strength
The individual in this position will be exposed:On an occasional basis to:
inclement weather such as snow, winds, rain, lighting, and ice.
airborne particles such as dust, pollen, and animal hair.
controlled, loose, injured, or panicked thoroughbred horses.
in the back of the ambulance during transports
loud noises such as ambulance sirens and horns
participate in an approved infection control training program to include a review of the PNGI-Charles Town Races Exposure Control Policy for Blood-borne and Air-borne Pathogens
participate in a “Driver’s Training Road Course” under the direct supervision of an approved driver of Charles Town Races & Slots emergency vehicles and the Squad Training Officer
perform a duty-shift vehicle inspection of the ambulance including completion of daily vehicle maintenance log and patient care equipment/supplies checklists
participate in an orientation to the EMS Department equipment and supplies and their locations
review with the EMS Manger, the current West Virginia Racing Commission Rules & Regulations, the Charles Town Races & Slots EMS Department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and West Virginia EMS BLS Protocols
